The food at the lodge is good - everything is home-made; from the bread baked daily, to the soups, the relishes and chutneys. While at the lodge clients may choose to do nothing more than relax by the pool which overlooks the Blue Mountains of the Congo, or partake in a number of activities that are run from the lodge. Accommodation is in large canvas tents with permanent thatched roofs. Each tent includes en-suite bathrooms with running water and private verandas with a stunning panoramic view.
Imagine lying on a hand carved four poster bed draped in muslin. Persian carpets and other soft touches ensure that this is far from roughing it in the bush. We have always taken comfort seriously.
Sofas are piled with cushions, there is plenty of lounging space, loads of books to read, warm muffins brought to you in bed with your morning tea or coffee, and soft fleecy blankets on the beds.
When the property for Semliki Lodge was first obtained in 1992, the area had been so badly poached that it faced losing its status as a park. Now, with persistent efforts with staff, the Wildlife Authority and the surrounding communities, the reserve is healing.
Semliki Lodge has recently received the Uganda Investment Authority 'Investor of the Year' award for "Outstanding Contribution to Uganda's Conservation".
